Hello to all,
My name is Laken Nordin, I am
currently attending Brigham Young University-Idaho to pursue my
bachelor’s degree in marriage and family studies. I plan on going to graduate school, to become closer of reaching my goal of becoming a marriage counselor. I am
from a small town in Virginia called Winchester. Winchester is one of the
prettiest places I have lived, and one of the smallest. There is a lot of
activities in my hometown to do like hiking, walking around downtown, and going to
farmers’markets. We have a big celebration each April called Apple Blossom.
This is a huge event, and many people from other states will often come to take
part in it. The weather Virginia has in my opinion is the absolute best kind
there is. Seventy degrees in the spring and summer with slightly colder weather
in the winter and fall.
A little about
me is that I come from a family of five. I have two sisters, and their
names are Kylie and Carrington. My older sister Kylie is married, and currently
live in Georgia with her husband. Carrington, my little sister is a senior this year, and she is
trying to play college soccer at Southern Virginia University. My dad is a real
awesome guy; who works hard to provide for my family. He works as a government
contractor. My mom is lucky enough to be a stay at home mom. We are a super busy family because of our
different schedules, but we try our best to come together every day for either
family prayer or dinner. My family values our time spent together weather it is
at a soccer game, church, or doing a family activity. My family
also has an obese dachshund named peanut. He is fourteen years old, and enjoys
sleeping all day. My mother’s side of the family is only four hours away from
where we will, so we will often take a family weekend trip down to Virginia
Beach to visit them.
I
am completely new to the blogging the world, so I hope to learn quickly on how to
make my blog good. I want to really inspire you all with what I have been
learning each week in my family relations class. Now, with that being said my
blog will not be re-teaching lessons from my class, but will be my own words
from what I have gained through applying the class into my life. I will be talking about personal experiences,
observation, and religious beliefs that happen to go hand in hand with each new
topic I learn and blog about. I hope that my blog brings nothing but happiness
and curiously so that you will continue to read more of it..
What
I hope to get from this blog from you is positive comments or feedback to help
me make my blog better. I have turned the comment section on anonymous, so that way there
is the opportunity to have conversations to answer question or to talk about a post on my blog.. I will also be putting links to my class mates blog as well. I think that
it is a good idea for you all to go and look their blogs over as well because we
all learn differently. Their blogs might be easier to understand or more inspiring
to you then mine will be, but I encourage you to stay along with me in my
blogging journey. Lastly, I would hope that you understand that this blog
will have insight on some of my beliefs as a Latter-Day Saint or Mormon.
Blogger,
Laken Nordin
